A 15-minute security setup for the whole family

Being the "tech person" in your family shouldn't mean resetting a parent's password every month. Here's a setup that protects everyone and, crucially, keeps working without you.

Minute 0–3: Create a family plan

Start a Celestial Family plan and invite each member by email. Everyone gets their own private vault — parents can't see the kids' logins and vice-versa — plus a shared space for things the household uses together.

Minute 3–7: Set up shared collections

Create a "Household" collection for the streaming logins, the Wi-Fi password, utility accounts and the family calendar. Change one password and it updates for everyone automatically. No more group chats full of credentials.

Minute 7–11: Help each person pick a master password

Teach the "three random words plus a number" trick for a memorable-but-strong master password. Write each one down on paper once, store it somewhere safe at home, then never type it into anything but Celestial.

Minute 11–14: Turn on emergency access

Nominate trusted family members for emergency access. If someone is ever locked out or unwell, a time-delayed request lets a loved one help — without ever handing anyone a permanent key to the vault.

Minute 14–15: Run a Watchtower scan

Open Watchtower on each vault and fix any red items together. It's a great teaching moment, especially for kids and older relatives seeing reused passwords for the first time.

The goal isn't perfection — it's making the safe path the easy path, so the whole family stays protected on autopilot.
